Curriculum

At Grove Academy, we understand that the formative years of a child's education are critical in shaping their future. Our goal is to cultivate a holistic approach to learning, emphasizing not only academic achievement but also the development of essential life skills. Through a rich tapestry of engaging activities, hands-on experiences, and culturally diverse perspectives, we aspire to instill in our students a profound sense of curiosity, empathy, and a genuine appreciation for the world around them.

At Grove Academy, students are not placed into traditional age-based classrooms. Instead, children are thoughtfully grouped based on their developmental readiness, abilities, interests, and the specific skills they are actively working to strengthen.

This individualized approach allows every child to progress at their own pace while ensuring teachers can provide intentional support, guidance, and challenge tailored to each learner’s needs.

Our learning groups are fluid and flexible, meaning students may transition into new groupings as they master skills, demonstrate readiness for greater challenges, or benefit from additional time and practice in a particular area. This dynamic model supports both academic growth and social-emotional development while honoring the unique learning journey of each child.

  • Authorized IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP)
  • Individualized, skill-based student groupings
  • Small student to teacher ratios, typically 6:1 during academics
  • Inquiry-based, child-centered learning environment
  • Flexible learning pathways that adapt to student growth
  • Strong focus on social-emotional development and independence
  • Enriched experiences including STEAM, outdoor learning, and creative exploration
  • Strong family-school partnership

At Grove Academy Preschool, being an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) school means creating meaningful, inquiry-based learning experiences that nurture the whole child.

In our early years center, children learn through play, exploration, creativity, and hands-on discovery while developing important academic, social, and emotional skills. The IB PYP encourages students to ask questions, think independently, build confidence, and develop compassion and respect for others and the world around them.

Our goal is to help children become curious, capable, and caring lifelong learners from the very beginning of their educational journey.

At Grove Academy, we celebrate diversity and embrace the richness it brings to our learning community. Our commitment to global-mindedness is reflected not only in the curriculum but also in our efforts to create an inclusive environment that respects and values every individual. We believe that by fostering an early appreciation for cultural differences, we can contribute to the development of open-minded and well-rounded individuals who are prepared to navigate an interconnected world.

We offer a variety of enrichment opportunities and field trips to our students. Our teachers coordinate third party enrichment providers to align with our educational thematic units. These extra learning opportunities include music, art, physical education, Spanish, and STEM lessons from Elementary teachers at our IB sister schools, Happy Feet, Amazing Athletes, Brainy Bots, Mercy Full Project, and more!

Our curriculum units are created using the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards. These standards are organized by age and provide a developmentally appropriate guide for educators and families.
